UKULELE LESSON F.A.Q.
Yes, all of our ukulele lessons are private one-on-one lessons with a qualified instructor.
Ukulele lessons are once a week for those enrolled in our Music Foundations and Artist Development monthly-based lesson programs and lessons are scheduled on the same day and time of each week. Our Adult Lesson Packages generally offer a little more scheduling flexibility to accommodate work and life commitments.
Our Music Foundations and Artist Development monthly-based lesson programs offer 30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute lessons. Our Adult Lesson Packages for students 18+ are offered in 45-minute and 60-minute lessons. Recommended lesson lengths will vary depending the student’s age, ability, and level of commitment.
Unfortunately no. Our lesson programs are designed to heavily integrate with the resources available in our state-of-the-art teaching facility located in South Reno. While we understand the convenience of in-home lessons we do not believe it is possible to deliver a comparable student experience outside of our facility.
While it is difficult to specify exactly what age is best to start Ukulele lessons, students under the age of 6 typically do not exhibit the patience and coordination necessary to be successful learning to play guitar. In some cases, students younger than 6 can do well, however this is rather uncommon and really depends on the student’s personality and level of maturity.
Our Music Foundations monthly-based lesson program is designed for beginning students of all ages. This program focuses on learning the fundamentals of music and building a foundation of proper technique, performance, and music theory. Our Adult Lesson Packages are for students 18+ and cover all skill levels from beginner to advanced.
Yes, and it is never too late to learn to play the ukulele! No, we have loaner ukuleles available for use during lessons. After the first few lessons we will require that you have a ukulele available for practicing at home. We have a wide selection of ukuleles available to rent or purchase and our instructors are available to help you select an appropriate instrument.
Like many things, learning ukulele is a lifelong endeavor. How fast a student learns varies widely and depends on the individual’s age, aptitude, practice routine, and level of commitment. Highly dedicated students can often achieve basic proficiency in as little as 6 months and reach advanced levels within a few years.
Yes. Learning any instrument requires perseverance and dedication, particularly when just starting out. Because of this we require a 3-month upfront commitment for students enrolling in our Music Foundations and Artist Development programs. Following that initial commitment lessons are billed on a monthly basis. Students 18+ purchasing one of our Adult Lesson Packages are required to commit upfront for the number of lessons in that package.
To maximize results, we recommend practicing for 30 minutes every day. We understand sometimes that isn’t always possible, but experience shows that even practicing for as little as 10 minutes a day helps maintain forward progress learning to play piano.
Our Student Band program is one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences we offer. It is an excellent opportunity for students to apply the concepts and material covered in lessons to a collaborative and performance based environment. Because a basic level of proficiency is required to play in a band, this program is only available to students enrolled in our Artist Development monthly-based lesson program.
